What is our ELITE program?
The ELITE program is for high school volunteers who are too old for camp, but aren’t quite old enough to be a part of our paid staff (most are going into the 9th & 10th grade). Many of them have attended camp in the past as campers and now are wanting to join our awesome hardworking team and give back to the next generation of campers.
What do they do?
Our ELITE are involved in a lot of the “behind the scenes” work that makes camp possible. They do everything from making popcorn in the snack shop to helping out campers in the craft shop. They are a big part of making our rally run smoothly as the set up the stage, straighten chair and even help with the sound and lights in our sound booth. Sometimes, they’ll even get a chance to assist on a team with other counselors to begin to see what it takes to be a leader at camp.
Essentially, the job of the ELITE is to help keep everything running smooth so that the counselors can more effectively do their job.
We Want You
We are recalling look for students who embody three important qualities:
- They must have leadership abilities. We are looking for students who know how to lead and have an impact on others and understand the responsibility that comes with leadership.
- They must have the heart of a servant. One of the greatest attributes an ELITE can have is a willingness to do whatever is asked of them. These are the kind of volunteers that in the years ahead we want to make paid workers.
- Finally, they must be a Christ-like example. We are here to make a lasting impact on the lives of our campers, and our volunteers are a big part of that. Each camper looks to our volunteers and sees the way they act and the way they serve. We want to be able to take campers and point them to our volunteers and say, “If you want to know what it looks like to be a “high schooler” that is pursuing Christ, this is what it looks like.”
